It's on the eastern outskirts of Hollywood. The place has a Latin American feel -- one wall is eggplant purple, one umber, one burnt orange, and yet another is a deep mustard yellow. The art on the walls is good -- interesting, not fake-me-out-let's-put-some-crap-up. It has a point of view and makes me think of the Aztecs.
The chairs don't match, which I like. There's a feeling of order and cleanliness, which I love. I think it's harder to work when the environment is in a disarray.
The cappuccino is good, the service is friendly. There's a hippy vibe. Free wi-fi with a minimum purchase -- let's see what that is... just a drink. Good.
The music is so-so, right now it's an 80's/90's mix. I haven''t heard Vanessa Williams' "Save the Best for Last" in a million years.
Good points are that it's a very serious, quiet atmosphere, which could be perfect if you need to do some writing or have some quiet thinking time. Tons of people work away on their laptops.
I did see, for the first time ever, a guy with his laptop locked to the table. And there was a notice about computer theft. So be careful.
Parking is not ideal. Street metered parking is one hour only. Other street parking seems to be tight, but maybe I just need to explore more.
The atmosphere is leavened by a few neighborhood non-conformists, like the t-shirt wearing older lady who serves herself water and coos away in a baby voice to an unseen entity. Then I realize that she's talking to her cat, who's in the carrier.
One secret to the cleaning: they seem to sweep a lot here, but luckily it's not obtrusive. A worker even picked up someone's sweater that had fallen on the floor. Nice.
