The Coffee Table - Silverlake
I hate this place. I've been here before, but only as I've been reading or what have you while my car is worked on. Well now I'm here as a MKW, and it really sucks. First off, they are playing the radio, and not even a cool station. "Fame" is on, and other songs from the '80s and '90s. One strike. Second, I've just moved tables, but have learned that it's not anything with my computer -- all the plugs inside are deactivated. Almost seems like a hostile act. The crowd is older, but very nondescript and without a lot of energy. Also no wi-fi. Can that be a litmus test?
And by the way, I bought a fair amount of stuff - fruit plate, coffee...
Yuck. Hopefully I'll hear from my mechanic soon and learn what's next. But I'm a bit of a prisoner, as my car is just down the street. This is when the headphones (an essential part of the MKW's kit) come in handy. I'm listening to I-tunes, and have my BB on vibrate, so that I can be reachable for phone calls. Especially from my mechanic.
There's an interesting woman in my sight line. She's wearing one of those hats that's all the rage now, which is both good (it does look good) and boring. But she has great metallic sandals. I'm not stimulated by the vibe, but at least it's definitely not scene-y.
When will my car be ready?! she wails.
